As the privileged spectator of a unique and free performance, I'd like to show, from behind the camera, my particular vision of the wonderful environment that surrounds and sustains us. I hope this blog will serve as a small payment to the great natural gifts and as a humble work toward their conservation.

Escocia.

Living frontiers
(To John Palfery)

Three elements together: the sea, the land and a changing sky that make me shiver sometimes, but not just because of the cold. The waves break beside me, the wind blows hard and the volcanic rocks serve as a hard seat. The rain and the wind beat my back. I taste the salt. I await the sunlight once more: the island reappears and the feathers, that never left off flying and screaming, show white again. It is spring in the North Sea when the cliffs are bustling: gulls and guillemots come and go, razorbills and puffins return from offshore, formations of gannets fly at my feet. Energy rushes to a frontier that does not separate but unites life.

The rain comes back and the wind whistles in my clothes; the light now illuminates a meadow here, a patch of sea there. The clouds pass and the wash of the waves cannot silence the voices of thousands of seabirds that throng the rocks, painting them with life. This is Scotland.
